Neuston 3: en concerto con el océano" is a musical journey through the ocean, devised and realised by the musician Abraham Cupeiro and organised by the Unidad de Cultura Cultura Científica of the Instituto de Investigacións Mariñas (IIM-CSIC), located in Vigo, with the collaboration of the Real Jardín Botánicode Madrid (RJB-CSIC).

The aim is to increase awareness of the importance of the worlds oceans in the preservation of life on the planet, as well as to promote the Ocean Culture principles (UNESCO, 2020).

The artist Abraham Cupeiro is a builder and player of various musical instruments. He recovers and explores the sounds of instruments from ancient times. In this event he will perform for the first time several original musical pieces inspired by the ocean and the scientific research from IIM.

This Ocean Night activity follows from Proyecto Neuston (Pintado Valverde, 2015) a Science-Art transdisciplinary project from IIM-CSIC. The project kickstarted a dialogue between researchers and art creators which is still ongoing.
