Plankton and dance: move to the rhythm of the ocean waves!

Audience: 3rd grade primary school students, 8-9 years old
An experiential workshop will be held where science and art merge. With the help of scientists from the ICM-CSIC and from the microscopic observation of planktonic organisms, students will discover what plankton is and what it is like, in addition to its importance for the functioning of life on our planet (PlanctON interactive infographic). Meanwhile, guided by dancers from the Big Bouncers dance company, they will dance and move like plankton to the rhythm of the waves.

This is an educational workshop to facilitate knowledge of the sea for the general public. This new approach is based on encouraging people's imagination and observation skills, so we propose that, based on what we can see and observe on land, we can “imagine” how we would see the ocean if we were to dive. The activity will consist of the screening of the film “Arxipèlag Blau” (Blue Archipelago), followed by a round table with a moderator (Maria Vicioso) and experts (Anabel Colmenero, Cristina Caparrós, Purificación Canals, Rafael Sardà) who will provide complementary visions on the past, present and future of the Mediterranean.
